ARTE sells The Four Sisters in the US

US Distributor Cohen Media Group has acquired North American rights to director Claude Lanzmann’s The Four Sisters from ARTE Distribution

John Kochman, EVP of CMG, and Céline Payot-Lehmann, Head of International Distribution at ARTE France negotiated the distribution agreement for director Claude Lanzamann's The Four Sisters. The four remastered films, originally intended for Lanzmann’s great epic, Shoah, are built around four Holocaust survivors with unique destinies, each finding herself unexpectedly and improbably alive after the end of World War II: Ruth Elias from Ostrava, Czechoslovakia; Paula Biren from Lodz, Poland; Ada Lichtman from further south in Krakow; and Hannah Marton from Cluj, or Kolozsvár, in Transylvania. 'What they have in common,' said Lanzmann, 'apart from the specific horrors each one of them was subjected to, is their intelligence, an incisive, sharp and carnal intelligence that rejects all pretense and false reasons – in a word – idealism.'

Cohen added: 'We are honored to have acquired these deeply moving and important films by a filmmaker who holds a unique place in cinema history.'
'Cohen Media Group is the perfect North American partner for this film”, says Celine Payot Lehmann, Head of Distribution at ARTE. 'They are a reputable distributor, with an excellent catalog of European and French films, and we are honored that they attach such importance to Lanzmann’s work.'

The Four Sisters is produced by Synecdoche and ARTE France. Cohen Media Group will give each film a theatrical release in North America.
