Since 2012, as the general agency, ZDF Enterprises has looked after the ARD and ZDF children's channel, as well as representing the global marketing rights to all productions to which KiKA holds the rights. In 2015, the preschool brand KiKANiNCHEN was also included in the mandate. They plan to expand their high-quality licensing programme further, to reinforce the umbrella brand and to focus on international TV sales and distribution.
As well as the KiKA umbrella brand, ZDF Enterprises' mandate also includes KiKA programme brands, such as Baumhaus, Bernd das Brot, ENE MENE BU, KiKANiNCHEN, KIKA LIVE, TanzAlarm and many more. Complemented by the many new incentives, the high profile and great popularity of the children's channel and of its programmes offer ideal conditions for high-quality product concepts.
KiKA continually achieves top ratings and regularly leaves the competition in its wake in the field of German children's media. In the target group of three to 13-year-olds, the broadcaster achieved a market share of 18.3% in 2017, putting it neck and neck with Super RTL. For several years in a row, KiKA has also led the preschool children's market, its most recent market share being 28.1% (source: AGF/GfK).
