The agreement includes the purchase of a minimum of 50 hours a year and at least 5 hours of pre sales of all genres of documentaries. Most films will be broadcast on the documentary channel Planete +, as well as the cooking channel Kuchnia+ and Domo+, a lifestyle and garden channel.
'ARTE offers a wide selection going from history, investigation, culture, fashion, discovery and nature. Deals like these are ideal to put our entire catalogue forward', said Celine Payot Lehmann, Head of Arte Distribution. 'It’s a nice combination of quality and quantity”, explained Joanna Zawistowska, programming manager for NC+. 'The Polish market is highly competitive and many broadcasters are looking for this type of content. I’m like a kid in a candy store', she added.
In its first selection, NC+ has chosen 62 hours of programs, including Four Sisters by Claude Lanzmann. The group is also pre buying the series Volcanos Among US (20x'26) produced by Arte France and Les Bons Clients, and Monuments of Legend (5x'52) produced by ARTE G.E.I.E. and Seppia. 'It’s the first time we include pre buys in an output deal', remarked Zawistowska, 'a big step for us that’s essential to secure rights on our territory'.
