Discop MENA moves to December 15-17, 2019

As part of a formal review of DISCOP's strategic plan to improve its content trade and coproduction market dedicated to the Middle East and Northern Africa, DISCOP MENA's co-organizers, Basic Lead and ABC | Arab Broadcast Content, are moving the dates of their annual market.

Originally slated to take place next year from 25 to 27 February in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, the next edition of Discop MENA will still be staged in 2019, but from 15 to 17 December. This strategic decision is based on the results of a survey underscoring the fact that, with the Ramadan month moving every year and the ever-growing importance of Ramadan programming in the Middle East and Northern Africa, Discop MENA's February dates were no longer optimal.

This survey was conducted in the last three weeks and took into consideration a random sample of responses, evenly representing all sectors of MENA's multiscreen content development, production and distribution industries.

By moving dates, co-organizers expect to strengthen DISCOP MENA’s relevance as a 'future proof' marketplace facilitating sustainable content development, production and distribution business with and across the Middle East and Northern Africa - two of the world's fastest growing entertainment and media marketplaces.

'Ten years ago, we chose to hold DISCOP MENA at the end of February at a time when Ramadan took place in the fall. By moving dates, and for the next ten years, we want to give the region’s broadcasters, premium cable channels, mobile operators and streaming platforms more time to pick and choose Ramadan content with widespread appeal in the Arabic world'. said Patrick Zuchowicki, CEO of DISCOP Markets.

Participants currently registered for DISCOP MENA 2019 will be individually notified in the coming days.
